In the Suunto app, open the workout, tap the three dots and choose the export format. Pick FIT if you can: it keeps everything the watch recorded. GPX keeps only location, time and heart rate, and workouts recorded without GPS export as FIT only.
Steps as of October 2026, from Suunto’s help pages. Movescount, Suunto’s old web service, closed in 2021, so exports now come from the Suunto app.

FIT or GPX from Suunto?

How do I see my speed from a Suunto file?
Drop the file into the free GPX and FIT analyzer for top speed, best 10 seconds, best 500 m and your track on a map; the file stays in your browser. For full analysis and history, import it into the Waterspeed web app at go.waterspeedapp.com. More in how to open a GPX or FIT file.
Can Suunto sync with Waterspeed instead?
Yes. Connect Suunto in Waterspeed’s settings: new activities sync automatically, and if you tick the option when connecting, so do up to 15 days of past activities. See Waterspeed for Suunto.
FAQ
Can I still export from Movescount?
No. Movescount closed in 2021. Use the Suunto app.
Why is there no GPX option for my workout?
Workouts recorded without GPS have no track to put in a GPX file, so the Suunto app offers FIT only.
