Where can you SUP in Noosa?

On the Noosa River. The canals are flat and protected, and the surfski wiki points beginners there. From the canals you can paddle upriver to the Noosa Parade bridge, or do the Witta Circuit loop.

Red Paddle Co says a Noosa River paddle is generally suitable for all levels, as long as you take the tide and the wind into account.

What should you watch out for?

  • Witta Circuit has boat traffic.
  • The Maroochy River mouth has shifting sandbanks.
  • Noosa has crowded surf, so keep a surfski clear of surfers when you land.
  • Crocodile warnings occasionally reach as far south as the Sunshine Coast (surfski wiki).

How do you get there?

Fly into Sunshine Coast Airport (MCY). Elsewhere in Queensland, the Gold Coast has flat-water kitesurfing in the Broadwater. More on the sports: surfski and SUP.
