Facts as of November 2026, from the sources listed at the end of this page.

What is kitesurfing in Icaraizinho like?

Calm water and constant wind are what Diário do Nordeste and bahia.ws both pick out. The wind blows mainly from the east and is best when it comes from the north-east. It is a thermal wind, so it builds through the day: Wannakitesurf puts the best hours from 10:00 to 18:00.

In the best part of the season it blows 20 to 25 knots, with gusts of 35 to 40 knots. Rig for the gusts, not only the average.

Besides kitesurf, the spot is used for windsurf, and bahia.ws mentions SUP on calmer days.

Is the wind side-offshore?

Yes, according to Wannakitesurf. Side-offshore wind blows partly away from the beach, so if your kite drops or your gear breaks, you drift out rather than in. That is why Wannakitesurf rates the spot intermediate. Learn somewhere with onshore or side-onshore wind first, such as Cumbuco.

Is February still windy?

Our sources do not say. Wannakitesurf ends the season in January, and none of the sources gives monthly figures for Icaraizinho, so check a local forecast or ask a school before you book February.

What should you watch out for?

  • Side-offshore wind, as above.
  • Gusts of 35 to 40 knots in the strongest part of the season.
  • A medium current of 1 to 2 knots and visible hazards in the water (Wannakitesurf). Look at the spot at low and high tide before you ride.

How do you get there?

Fly to Fortaleza (FOR). Wannakitesurf gives 150 km from the airport; bahia.ws gives about 200 km to Amontada, so allow for the longer figure. The same coast continues west to Preá and Jericoacoara. See the kitesurf page for what Waterspeed records on a session.
