Paracuru is a good kitesurf spot in December and January, at the end of its July to January season, and still rideable in February with less wind. Its main kite beach, Praia do Quebra-Mar, has a calm lagoon behind a natural reef for beginners and waves outside for experienced riders. Windsurfers and surfers come here too.

Facts as of November 2026, from the sources listed at the end of this page.

Where do you kitesurf in Paracuru?

Praia do Quebra-Mar is the main kite beach. A natural reef creates a calm-water lagoon on the inside and waves on the outside, and how much of each you get depends on the tide (bahia.ws). bahia.ws calls the lagoon ideal for beginners and the waves further out a place for experienced kitesurfers. Wannakitesurf rates the spot for everyone.

Surfers head to Pedra Rachada instead. For more waves with your kite, see nearby Taíba.

How windy is Paracuru from December to February?

Wannakitesurf describes a thermal east wind, side-onshore, at 16 to 25 knots. Kite Jungle, measuring at Praia do Buraco, gives a direction of about 127 to 130 degrees (south-east) from December to February, and these figures:

Month Days with 4 Bft (about 12 knots) or more Average wind
December 30 13 knots
January 28 11 knots
February 22 10 knots

Is February still windy?

Less than December or January. bahia.ws and Wannakitesurf both end the season in January, and Kite Jungle’s count drops to 22 windy days in February. Plan February as a lighter-wind month with some days off the water.

What should you watch out for?

The reef. It makes the lagoon, and the tide changes how much lagoon and how much wave you get. Our sources list no other hazards, so ask a local school about the tide times and the safe channel out before you ride the outside.
